A Brief

Introduction

At hope for the needy foundation, we are dedicated to empowering communities through sustainable development programs that transform lives. Since our establishment in 2021 in Uganda, we have focused on improving the wellbeing of children, youth, and women by addressing critical issues such as maternal and child health, gender based violence, environmental sustainability, water and sanitation, education, and economic empowerment.
With a strong commitment to integrity, accountability, and justice, we work hand in hand with the community members, government agencies and international partners to drive sustainable change.
From providing safe water solutions to advocating for the rights of adolescent mothers, our programs are designed to address the root causes of poverty and inequality.

Unlock Your Potential to Help Others

The purpose of life is not to be happy -- but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you lived at all.

Our Current projects

Hope for the Needy Foundation is actively involved in multiple initiatives aimed at transforming lives. Our ongoing projects include:

Volunteer woman preparing donation boxes for people.

Hope for the Needy Foundation is implementing an evidence-based holistic and multi-sectoral two-year project; sexual and reproductive health and economic empowerment supporting out-of-school adolescent girl’s rights and skills, with a goal of achieving gender transformation and sustainable change.

Working with partners, our organization has assessed the guidelines for prevention and management of teenage pregnancies in school settings in Uganda; effectiveness, implementation and dissemination gaps, produced and disseminated the research findings.

In Uganda, marriage is still common among young girls. A report of UNFPA indicated that the prevalence of child marriages is at 41% in Central Uganda. Arranged marriages for adolescent girls without their consent are common practice especially in rural areas accounting for 24% of girls giving birth earlier than girls in urban areas (21%).

We use education as a tool to prevent child marriages; we equip victims of teenage pregnancy, girls, and young women with technical skills to start up their small businesses.

We are implementing the education project for the girls that aims at contributing to a reduction in child marriages through supporting school enrolment and skilling of vulnerable children, girls and women in the country, Uganda. The project supports schools’ enrolment and retention of girls in schools equipping the young women with tailoring skills, knowledge and startup equipment by 2026.

Our Past projects

Since its establishment in 2021, our organization has implemented impactful projects aimed at social transformation. Some of our past projects include:

Two young female volunteers help pack food into donation boxes and prepare donation boxes to take to
Empowering Women, Better Lives

The project aimed at empowering victims of child, early/forced marriages with comprehensive and appropriate information on life skills and alternative income generating activities, rights information among out-of-school youth and supporting women to adopt climate smart agricultural practices to minimize land degradation and increase production in Mukono, Mpigi, and Wakiso districts.

Water and Sanitation

This project aimed at providing the people in the communities and schools clean and safe water for use.

Health Advocacy Initiative

Uganda holds high maternal mortality rates, which is often reflective of access to healthcare services. Ugandan women seek to handle birth on their own as it is a time when they can use their own power and their own decisions leading to high maternal mortality rate. Our organization implemented a project aimed at contributing to equitable access to quality maternal health care services among women in the central region of Uganda.

Jessica Nantaba a resident of kawempe, mbogo, wakiso district of Uganda.

I am pleased to testify of the support from hope for the needy foundation that has put up a borehole in the community. Initially the people in the area were depending on water fetched from open spring wells that are shared with animals. Whenever it could rain all dirt is drained into the well making it unfit for consumption. The use of water from open spring wells was causing most of the people in our community to suffer from water bone diseases. Last year, hope for the needy foundation helped us by putting up a borehole to provide clean and safe water for use. We now access clean water from the borehole and this has caused reduction in disease outbreaks caused by use of water from unclean sources. We appreciate the support for the organization and all those who partnered them in ensuring that we get a clean water source. May God bless the work of their hands.

Testimony of a student whose school fees were paid by hope for the needy foundation

Am so greatful to the management of hope for the needy foundation. In 2023, I dropped out of school due to lack of school fees. This came up after the loss of my father who was the sponsor of my education. I stayed at home the whole of 2023 and yet I was in senior secondary two. The management of hope for the needy foundation early last year, 2024, came to our village looking for the school drop outs due to lack of school fees. The area local council 1 member recommended me to the organization for assistance to finance my education. In 2024, the organization was able to pay for my education at Nansana high school. Am now in senior three with all the expenses being met by hope for the needy foundation. I do appreciate their support and pray that they continue with their support for the poor, needy children in the rural communities.

Association in 2024 was able to offer support to Hope for the Needy Foundation towards the water project in rural community. Our support to the organization was US$4,500 for the construction of the borehole at kawempe, mbogo, Uganda. Hope for the needy foundation was the one to implement this water project. We are happy and appreciate the work of this organization because it was able to implement the project and put up a borehole in the area which is now providing the people clean and safe water. We do recommend this organization to any other donors to fund their project activities.
